The Ski Slopes of Buttermilk Mountain

A retreat in Aspen, Colorado in the mid-'90s provided a wonderful opportunity to see those beautiful majestic mountains. I was inspired by the way the ski slopes appeared as though buttermilk was gently poured down that appropriately named mountain! I hope I adequately captured that feeling for those who love to ski or take in the view of Buttermilk Mountain! A grisaille underpainting followed by several passes of color and glazes helped to create the atmospheric depth further strengthening the composition depicting how massive those mountains were.
