Cerulean Lake

Cerulean Lake, Landscape
Cerulean Lake
In my landscape work, I seek to capture the way a place made me feel. I do this by playing with the texture of impasto acrylic and the orientation of my brushstrokes. I use a limited colour palette in my pieces mixing various hues to explore “light” and the ways it can elicit an emotional response but also create a mood in the work itself.

Cerulean Lake, British Columbia is in Assiniboine National Park. Hiking up towards The Nub gives you a stunning view of Mount Assiniboine in the distance, Sunburst Peak, Sunburst Lake and Cerulean Lake. The clouds come to life and frame the distant peaks. During Autumn, the trees begin their transformation from green to yellow. The result is a magical symphony of colour from across the sky to the mountains to the water and the trees.
