August in Cherry Valley

I painted this one hot afternoon in The Cherry Valley Wildlife Refuge in Stroudsburg, Pa. I had to paint quickly to beat the moving light and scorching heat. I wanted to create an impression of the summer heat as the meadow burst in the height of bloom. I used loose brush strokes trying hard to lay down my first impression and not modify it.
