I painted this en plein air in one of my favorite places, The Cherry Valley Wildlife Refuge in Stroudsburg, PA. I was drawn to this particular spot because of the abstract composition created by the juxtaposition of the Mullein with the Queen Anne's Lace. I toned the canvas and then pulled out my lightest lights using a paper towel with Gamsol. This gives the painting an overall harmony.
