The Road to Saugerties, Winter

This painting is a winterscape of a vista located within close proximity to my Catskill-based home and studio, and it is one I've painted many times over, both studio and plein air attempts. During peak winter months, the snow here is ever-present. I have always been fascinated with this particular stretch of road, not only for it's grandiosity, but for the 'Blue Mountain' range that looms just beyond. I love painting snow and capturing the light and subtle interplay in values.
