A pastel peach background sets a sumptuous stage for this extremely rare composition for Lobert. Instead of the artist’s typical system of working around the painting while walking around a table, she seems focused on the bottom half of the canvas, filling it up with a mountain of tremendously layered nuance in stroke, color, and shape as if building a monument to neon to erase the darker foundation below. A swirl of acid mustard circles forms a final stamp of completion akin to a cherry atop a sundae and the work is abandoned, leaving behind a remarkable and scintillating piece.
