Quinn
This painting was completed alla prima in my studio this past March, from a photo reference of my niece Quinn. It is painted in oil on canvas mounted to wood panel. I was inspired by Quinn's intense eye contact that make her both fierce and unguarded. The sunlight passing through her hair to her shoulder frames her beautifully. I am a self taught, representational artist, working in oils since 2019. I reside in Wisconsin with my husband and four boys. Having discovered my love for oil painting at the age of 40, I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to pursue and create art. It is one of the few innate human impulses that connects us to the past, reaches into the future and holds such power, that even amidst the trappings of modern age, still stirs the human heart to longing, nostalgia, familiarity and novelty, sadness and joy. What a gift.
