I was mesmerized by these Rocky Mountain Bee Plants growing wild along the river banks in my hometown. I had never noticed them before the summer of pandemic isolation. After completing five or six small studies, I created this larger piece with vibrant complementary colors. I love that they attract honey bees on their gathering missions. This painting was done in transparent watercolor on cold press paper, using what I call my "puddle painting" technique.
