Atlantic Coast 2022

I painting this plein air painting during the past winter on a sunny afternoon, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. It's a special moment to me, standing out on the rocky ledge looking down over the rocks, into the deep, cold water. It took about two hours to paint and there wasn't much wind until about the last five-minutes, and then when the wind picked up, it gave me the gift of crashing waves. Loved every moment. I did two paintings that day, this is the first one, the other one captures the swells of the water and undulating distant headlands. This painting is special to me as it set the tone for my paintings this year.
